Aoudad at River Valley.
Aoudad (Barbary sheep) give you the essence of a sheep hunt — glassing, stalking, and beating an animal that sees everything — without a mountain-hunt budget. Rams carry heavy, curving horns and a distinctive maned cape, and use terrain and eyesight to their advantage. A satisfying, physical hunt across the rolling river-valley country.
About the aoudad.
The aoudad, or Barbary sheep, is a rugged mountain animal from North Africa that has thrived across the American Southwest. Both rams and ewes carry heavy, sweeping horns that are never shed, and mature rams grow long flowing “chaps” of hair down the throat and legs. Sharp-eyed and at home on steep, broken ground, they’re one of the toughest, most rewarding quarries a ranch can offer.
