Fallow — palmated
antlers, old-world color.
Broad, palmated ‘shovel’ antlers and coats from spotted tan to near-black — one of the most handsome and characterful deer you can hunt.
Distinctive palmated antlers · Multiple color phases · Great first exotic · Harvest fees published
Fallow at River Valley.
Fallow are herd deer with personality — sharp-eyed, quick to move, and unmistakable once a buck shows those broad palmated antlers. They come in several color phases, so no two trophies look alike. An excellent first exotic and a favorite on a mixed-bag hunt; in the fall, listen for the buck's low groan of the rut.
About the fallow deer.
The fallow deer is instantly recognizable for its antlers — broad and palmated, shaped like a moose’s in miniature and unlike anything else on the ranch. Bucks come in several colors, from the common tan-and-spotted to chocolate, white, and near-black. In the October rut they gather on traditional stands and give a deep, croaking groan.
